2021 NFL Wildcard Preview: Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks and The LA Rams will be facing off for the third time this season. However, it’s time to dive into both teams.

Point Spread: –4.5

Sunday, January 10th, 2021 – Fox

Why The Rams Will Win

  1. Jared Goff

If Goff is in, the Rams will definitely have a chance to beat the Seahawks. When the Seahawks and Rams played the first time around this season. Goff put on a show. He exposed the Seahawks defense for 300 yards and completed 27 pass attempts. Though he didn’t throw a touchdown, the Rams fate will rely on if Goff can play after his thumb surgery two weeks ago.

2. Rams Defense

The Rams defense has been able to stop the Seahawks offense from putting up great numbers. In both games, Jalen Ramsay has been able to shut DK Metcalf down. Russell Wilson is not as mobile as he used to be, so if Aaron Donald and the defensive crew can keep Wilson in the pocket and sack him a couple of times, this defense should be able to put the Rams in a good spot to win the game.

3. Cam Akers

Akers is not the best running back in the league, but he can still give an offense quite a bit of yards. The Rookie running back is the primary back with Darrell Henderson Jr. down with a high ankle sprain. Against the Cardinals in week 17, Akers rushed 21 times for 34 yards. So he’s going to have to put up more than that. But he should be able to, being two weeks removed from his own recovery of an ankle sprain.

Why The Seahawks Will Win

  1. Russell Wilson

Wilson has definitely struggled as of late, which isn’t good for the Seahawks. But if Russell Wilson, can magically just reappear with the better version of himself. Then the Seahawks will be in good shape to make it back to the Super Bowl. This season, Wilson proved why he is one of the best Quarterbacks in the game. However, the biggest question for Wilson is will he have Metcalf to throw to or will Metcalf be shut down?

2. Seahawks Defense

The Seahawks defense struggled at the beginning of the year. But, they have woken up and have been the hottest defense in the league. Since week 13, the defense has not allowed more than 23 points in a game. And they’ve only allowed that many on two occasions. Some young guys like DJ Reed and rookie Jordyn Brooks have stepped up for the Seahawks.

Although, you have to give some credit to the defensive coordinator Ken Norton.

The main reason for this turnaround has been the addition of Carlos Dunlap, and Shaq Griffin getting healthy.

3. Running backs

This is probably one of the biggest question marks on the game. The Seahawks don’t have a legit star running back. But, they do have three running backs that can split the snaps. Chris Carson, Rashad Penny, and Carlos Hyde all offer something a little different. While Carson is more of your all-around RB, Penny has a little more speed, and Hyde is more of a power back. Penny had been hurt most of this season but was starting to hit his stride last season before going down.

This one may get physical between the Hawks and the Rams, and its going to be a close game. But, Seattle is going to toughen this one out.
