Zion Says He’s Fat Because He Has Too Much Money

Why can’t Zion Williamson just get in shape? The former first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft gave a brutally honest response for why he’s struggling with his diet. Long story short; Zion essentially said he’s fat because he has too much money.

VIA Gilbert Arenas’ “Gil’s Arena” show:

“Is it hard to diet at your age?” Arenas asked. “Be honest.”

“Since it’s you, I’ll be real,” Williamson said. “That s–t hard, it’s hard man. Like, you’re 20, 22, got a lot of money — it feels like all the money in the world — man, it is hard.

“But I’m at that point now, where, because of certain things, I’m putting back wisdom around me… putting people around me with wisdom, put me on game to certain things and just go from there.”

You know what they say. Every advantage has an equally opposite disadvantage. It’s crazy that guys like Zion and Ja Morant have the world by the balls. Yet they find a way to tear themselves down.

Zion just needs some motivation in his life. This man can still be saved. Can we just be honest about this? New Orleans is where players go to die. Chris Paul and Anthony Davis both wasted years and years of their prime in a location that’s never going to achieve anything. Would the former Duke product act like this if he felt like the Pelicans had a real chance to win? Not even that, how about if he played for any relevant franchise that wasn’t New Orleans?

Let me get ahold of him. I’ll take Zion to the gym. I’ll go on runs with the guy every morning at 6 am if I have to. The only thing that’s missing here is one dude that isn’t afraid to get in his face. One guy to tell him that the money should be viewed as irrelevant. The legacy trumps all. Do you really want to be remembered as the guy that got so fat he failed? This shouldn’t be that hard to get this dude motivated. Yet, the Pelicans are failing like they do with every player.
