Zahid Valencia Suspended Indefinitely
Zahid Valencia continues to “blaze” his way for the 2019-2020 college wrestling season. The undefeated senior from Arizona State University is on the hunt to become the latest 4x All-American and a 3x NCAA champion. The senior is also looking to earn a spot on the up coming Olympic team at 86KG, a task that although seems impossible with World Champion David Taylor returning from ACL surgery, is 100% doable. Zahid is arguably one of the most dominant wrestlers that we have seen in the last 20 years placing 3rd at 174LBs as a freshman, and winning the 174LB title as a sophomore and junior. The biggest obstacle that Zahid is facing this year however is not another wrestler, but a test that the California native just cannot seem to pass.

Earlier this week Valencia was suspended indefinitely from the Arizona State wrestling team for failing a drug test. Thankfully he did not test positive for a performance enhancing drug, which would have not only ended his pursuit of claiming the 184LB NCAA title but also his dream of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. A lot of questions are still unanswered at this time about the suspension. Will Zahid be cleared for conferences in 2 weeks? Is he still the front runner for the Hodge Trophy? Does this impact his legacy? What recreational drug did he test positive for? Would he like to come to Reading, PA and hang out with me and the boys and tape a podcast and get wrecked? He seems like a partier now and I feel like we’d all have a good time. As news breaks on this story you better believe that Chach will be there to break it for you wrestling fans.
