Zach Frazier 2024 NFL Draft Profile

This is a really good offensive line class in the 2024 NFL Draft, with both tackle and interior offensive line having top guys and very nice depth. It feels like the center position is getting more and more love in the last few years, and this should continue this year. West Virginia’s Zach Frazier is one of the better centers in the class, but what does his draft profile look like? Let’s talk about it.

Frazier, a former three-star defensive lineman recruit out of West Virginia, committed to play for the Mountaineers back in 2020 and played all four seasons there. Frazier is also a former wrestler, and it just feels like they are more likely to pan out. First true freshman to start on the WVU OL since 1980. Big plus. He would allow just five sacks over 3,200 snaps and just 29 QB hurries.

I spoke about Jackson Powers-Johnson in his profile that he is the clear and away best center in the class, but I believe a case can be made for Zach Frazier to be next in line. His gutsy Combine performance sold me, especially after his Bench Press number. Frazier went out and did the drills while recovering from a broken leg he suffered in late November. That kind of toughness you can’t teach, I like that.

Frazier does a good job getting the ball out and snapping up into his stance. He’s got big-boy strength from those wrestling days to where he won’t get overpowered. Never feels like he lunges in pass protection, and is always looking to land first in run blocking. Has collegiate experience at Guard and Center, and you know how much I love versatile Offensive Linemen. Strong, violent punch and quick hands get his defender disrupted on their first move. Knee bend is there and has a great ass.

I don’t necessarily love how much he plays upright. There isn’t a ton of back bend on the tape, but when he fails to get down in time the whole rep tends to fall apart. People will complain about the arm’s length, but he is quick enough to get back into stance that it isn’t an issue for me. Hips could be a little looser and doesn’t do a great job getting into double teams.

I have Zach Frazier as the second-best Center in the 2024 Class and give him a second-round grade. I’m not sure I could take him in the top 50 just based on how loaded this class is, but if I can land him in the back part of that second round I am overjoyed. Frazier could become a starter early in his career and be a plus starter toward the end of his rookie deal.
