2016 will be the last season for Mark Teixeira. According the ESPN’s Buster Olney, Teixera will call it quits once the season ends.
Mark Teixeira expected to announce his retirement later today, at 36, effective at the end of the season.

The Yankees won a championship with Teixeira during 2009. He will be forever known for his defense first winning 3 gold gloves along the way. Big Tex played for the Rangers, Braves, Angels, and Yankees during his 14 year career.
With the Yankees going through a full scale rebuild there wasn’t a chance Teixeira was in their future plans. He was set to become a free agent following this season. New York were big time sellers at the trade deadline so it is highly unlikely we see him in the postseason.
