Yahoo Didn’t Replace Fantasy Analysts With AI; They Replaced Mediocrity

Sports media doesn’t have an AI problem. It has a talent problem. Yahoo Fantasy Sports fired two prominent writers in favor of the AI chatbot, and if you’re smart, you already know the truth.

Yahoo Sports announced the departure of longtime fantasy sports writers Andy Behrens and Dalton Del Don. In the days that have followed, Yahoo has decided to replace those two with AI.

A recent story published on their website is titled “Why Jameson Williams is no longer a boom-or-bust fantasy football option in 2025”. The article is under “Yahoo Sports”, not a real person. The tag line right before the content says this…

“This article was written with the assistance of Castmagic, an AI tool, and reviewed by our editorial team to ensure accuracy,” the disclaimer reads. “Please reach out to us if you notice any mistakes.”

People have predictably lost their minds, but of course, nobody wants to have an honest conversation about it.

🔥 1. “They’re Not Mad Because AI Replaced Them. They’re Mad Because It Could.”

  • If your analysis is indistinguishable from AI, that says more about you than the algorithm.
  • Nobody’s replacing actual talent or vision… just spreadsheet jockeys with WiFi.

🔥 2. “The Industry Rejected Originality Long Before AI Showed Up.”

  • These layoffs are the result of a media culture that rewarded groupthink, not difference-makers.
  • You don’t lose jobs like that overnight unless the whole house was built on sand.

🔥 3. “Vendetta’s Advantage Is That We Don’t Blend In.”

  • The entire point of Vendetta is anti-corporate, anti-clone. Nobody here is getting replaced by AI because we actually watch games and know things before consensus says so.
  • Berry, Yates, and the Yahoo crew don’t scare AI… They are AI.
  • I will burn this industry to the ground, and it’s coming sooner than you think.

🔥 4. “This Is the Era of the Scoreboard.”

  • These layoffs mark the start of the “accountability era” in fantasy.
  • Vendetta’s building the Evaluate the Evaluator tool, and so much more, these people won’t be able to hide behind consensus and company logos anymore. Things like the Matthew Berry challenge are just a taste of what’s to come.

The show must go on.
