Xander Bogaerts Refuses To Take Days Off During Red Sox Home Games

Rest days are a hot button issue in the NBA. Why are stars sitting out so many games? Xander Bogaerts is built a little differently. He doesn’t like taking days off. On the rare occasion that he does, he’s not doing it in front of the faithful fans at Fenway Park. This dude just rocks.

“If I’ve got to pick an off day, hands-down, I would not pick it at home,” Bogaerts said.

“I just like playing at home,” he explained. “It’s been like that throughout my career. There’s a lot of kids that go there to the park. If there would be one stadium where there’s a lot of Bogaerts jerseys, you’d probably say it’s Fenway. The other places, they’re on the road.”

Pay this man. Xander Bogaerts is a national treasure. You can’t replace this man. He’s the best shortstop in the game. Losing Mookie Betts was tough but also understandable given the contract he was going to sign. This isn’t a man that wants to leave Boston. It’s the little things that count. You don’t just find another shortstop like this guy.

Bogaerts, 29, is having another incredible season. The Sox shortstop is currently sporting a batting line of .328/.400/.474 with an OPS+ of 142. You’re not going to find a better bat at the position. Somehow this man is third in the All-Star voting. The disrespect when it comes to Xander never stops.

Let’s just remember to appreciate Xander Bogaerts. He’s not just a man rocket on the field, this dude cares about all the right stuff. He not only wants to be great, he also wants to make sure all the little kids in the stands become inspired as well. It doesn’t get better than that.

PS: Say whatever you want about baseball. Sure, it has it’s flaws. At least it has guys that want to suit up 162 games. NBA guys are a different breed. You can’t even get Anthony Davis to pick up a basketball let alone play in an actual game!
