WWE WrestleMania 39 is quickly approaching. The next premium live event is the Royal Rumble in January, so the road to WrestleMania will begin soon. Furthermore, WWE is in an interesting situation with their WWE and Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. With Roman Reigns holding both the main event titles in WWE, it begs the question, how will they separate the titles? Fans and journalists have speculated on how they think it will go down. Many believed that Austin Theory cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase for only one title was a good solution, but we all know what happened with that. But per Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is reportedly considering another option.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is reportedly considering having Roman Reigns defend his titles on both nights of WrestleMania 39. in 2020, WWE decided to make WrestleMania a two-night event. So it is reportedly being discussed by the company to have Roman Reigns defend the WWE Championship one night and the Universal Championship the other night. WrestleMania 39 will be in Hollywood so if WWE was going to do a match as big as Roman Reigns vs the Rock, it makes sense to do it there. Also, his defending the titles on both nights makes the most sense. It’s an easy way to have him lose one without having him look weak.
While this idea may make a lot of sense, reportedly nothing is definite and it is unlikely to actually happen. Also, there have been reports of WWE splitting the Championships after WrestleMania so Raw can have a main event title. The idea of getting the Rock to wrestle at WrestleMania 39 is referred to as the “pie in the sky.” This is what everyone would want to do, but it doesn’t mean it is what will happen. Also, it is important to keep in mind that the Rock has many massive things on his plate with movies, television, launching the XFL, and his companies. So this is all just talk and speculation, but we will be reporting new reports as they come out.
