WWE NXT to move to The CW Network in October 2024

WWE’s NXT brand will have a new home for itself in October 2024, as it’s been confirmed that The CW TV network will air the show from next year.

World Wrestling Entertainment’s third brand has only had a number of homes during its 13-year run. Its days as a half gameshow/half wrestling program started on the SyFy network in 2010, before moving to WWE.com after Smackdown was moved onto the channel instead. The brand was later rebranded to a developmental territory that took the place of Florida Championship Wrestling, and would end up being one of the main selling points for the WWE Network upon its launch in 2014.

Since 2019, NXT has aired on the USA Network. Beginning in September 2019 on a Wednesday night, before being moved to its Tuesday night in April 2021 after failing to compete with AEW Dynamite that aired on the same day.

The show has since made Tuesday nights its home and over the past year has improved in both quality and ratings, so it was only right that when negotiations for the show’s new home took place, whichever channel landed the program would have a valuable asset.

It was officially announced via a press release that The CW Network would be the new home of WWE NXT beginning in October 2024, ending the five-year stint on the USA Network. Dennis Miller, president of The CW, stated in the press release that the network is the perfect fit for WWE’s third brand and that they are excited to bring the new generation of World Wrestling Entertainment superstars to broadcast television.

WWE has benefited greatly from NXT moving to The CW Network:

Shortly after the announcement was made, WWE’s parent company Endeavor started its earnings call for TKO, the media conglomerate formed in the wake of the merger that involved World Wrestling Entertainment and the UFC.

Endeavor’s Ari Emmanuel was on hand to make some comments about NXT’s move to The CW Network, noting that WWE more than doubled their third brand’s right fees (70% to be exact) with the move. No timeslot has been confirmed as of yet, but there will be a lot of news regarding this rolling story in the coming days.
