There is a young star on the rise! Wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko plays for the Borussia Dortmund youth team, and you should watch out for him.

At the age of 12, he transferred over to Dortmund from St. Pauli. He is only 15 years old but had made a big statement. Goal’s NxGn 2020 listed him on their list. This is a list of 50 wonderkids that people should be looking out for.

You may be wondering why. Within the 97 games that he has played with the Dortmund youth teams, he has scored 157 goals. Moukoko also scored six goals in his debut on the U19 team. Within his 20 appearances, he has made 34 goals on the U19 team.

Moukoko is already a regular for the Germany U16 team.

With his Cameroonian background, many people are comparing him to Samuel Eto’o. He was a legendary striker and four-time African Footballer of the Year. However, Moukoko likes to strive to be former BVB striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang took Moukoko under his wing at Westfalenstadion and they still keep in contact.

There is a possibility that Moukoko could make his senior debut soon. Previous Bundesliga regulations would’ve made Moukoko wait until the 2021-2022 season. However, under new rules, he could be on the team as soon as he turns 16 on Nov. 20, 2020.

Although it would be interesting to see, there seems to be no rush on bringing him to the senior level.

“The framework conditions for professional appearances by absolute exceptional players of this age has been created, but we are not putting any pressure on him at all,” Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told Bild am Sonntag.

Head of Dortmund’s licensing player department Sebastian Kehl also wants to stress not rushing Moukoko’s development.

“There will always be a decision on a case-by-case basis, which will not only be made on the basis of sporting skills,” said Kehl. “Here physical and mental aspects, but also the personality of the player, play a major role. We will all handle it very responsibly.”

Although wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko won’t be rushed to the senior level, he is someone we all need to be looking at. Keeps your eyes and ears out for when this kid makes himself be known at the senior level.
