Will The NHL Rig The Connor Bedard Lottery For the Coyotes?

Doesn’t it just feel like we already know who’s getting Connor Bedard? Maybe others feel differently. If and when the NHL rigs the upcoming draft lottery, the Arizona Coyotes are probably going to get the first overall pick. It’s because they need it more than anyone else.

The Coyotes are currently playing in a college arena. The games are held at the Mullet, AKA Arizona State. It’s an arena that can only fit roughly 5,000 fans in it. The Coyotes need a new arena and a young superstar. Otherwise, the Yotes may realistically lose their team.

Bedard landing in Vancouver would also create a cool storyline. The hometown kid would be would be tasked with reviving the dysfunctional Canucks. They also have some good players in house with Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes. The Canucks, however, need to start selling pieces off fast in order to increase their odds.

Nobody needs Bedard more than Arizona. It means everything for them. This team isn’t just one player away. Outside of Clayton Keller and VEJMELKA!… this team has essentially zero assets. If they don’t turn things around and they’re still playing in a college arena in two years… what happens then?

Come back to this post when the lottery happens. It will be Arizona because this is what the league needs to save the Coyotes. When it happens, don’t say I didn’t try to warn you. This puppy has already been decided.

Arizona currently sits three points ahead of league-worst Chicago for the best draft odds. Columbus and Anaheim also have lower point totals as well. Time will tell.
