The Daniel Jones bandwagon has left the station ladies and gentlemen, but will it continue to chug along? Fellow New York Giants player Mark Glowinski thinks that Jones ‘Kick a–‘ next year.
Over the course of his career, Jones has been mediocre at best. New York drafted Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft after three seasons at Duke. Jones started off with a formidable rookie year, with 24 passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. But, turnovers cost the now 26-year-old QB. Jones threw 12 interceptions in his debut season and added six fumbles.
Now, Jones has found himself as one of the NFL’s biggest breakout players, recording 15 passing and seven rushing touchdowns last year with multiple career highs in QBR, passer rating, rushing touchdowns, passing yards and completion percentage.
Mark Glowinski, a guard for the Giants, did an interview on the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast” in which he gave Jones some heavy credit for his game.
“I think it’s going to be even a better season now that he has … that little bit of sense of relief in the sense that he doesn’t have to prove (anything) to anybody and now he can just go out there and have fun and kick a–,” Glowinski in an interview Wednesday on the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast.”
Jones has shown he can continue his progression as an NFL quarterback with his play from last season. New York took a major leap, much thanks to Jones and then-first-year head coach Brian Daboll.
“He did a great job, especially coming off of the, you know, past couple of years where he’s had a different coach,” Glowinski said. “And even with last year, he had a new coach. So he is, you can tell early on in the season, that he had a little bit of tightness in him, where he wanted to make sure he was being right all the time.”
The Giants took a major leap last year. In fact, they had their best season since 2016. Jones, Daboll, and New York went 9-7-1, finishing third in NFC East, and going 1-1 in the playoffs.
“I felt like every game that we were winning, he was opening up a little bit more and you would see a little bit more fire in him and more and more and that swagger was coming out,” he said. “And there was a lot of fun that was being played last season.”
If Jones and Daboll can continue their success, the sky is the limit for the Giants.
