Earlier today, I wrote a post about how AJ Brown was the most underrated wide receiver. I didn’t think it would spark a spirited debate, but here we are. Apparently, the Terry McLaurin stans are now in their feelings.
Who knows what pissed off the Washington football fans today. It really could be anything. Maybe they’re tired of watching their starting quarterback get their leg snapped in half? Maybe they’re tired of being called the football team? Maybe they have just been beaten to a pulp by Daniel Snyder so much that they have no choice but to put all of their energy defending McLaurin?
The reality of the situation is that AJ Brown is significantly better than McLaurin. That’s not even what I’m here to discuss. It’s time to bring the Football team losers back to earth. Sure, McLaurin is all they have but they should have never let Hitler have Poland. Never give these ants an inch.
You know who McLaurin is? He’s Mike Wallace.
McLaurin: 6-foot, 200lbs, third round pick, 4.35 speed.
Wallace: 6-foot, 200lbs, third round pick, 4.33 speed.
They’re the same guy. Before you roll your eyes, Mike Wallace was a good football player. Sure, he was overpaid when he left Pittsburgh but he was no slouch. Wallace was a great deep threat.
Same guy. EXACT SAME GUY. Congrats!!! You’re losing your mind over a guy that you’re probably better off letting walk to collect the comp pick in order to find another McLaurin on a rookie contract.
McLaurin is a good player. If he’s a top 20 wide receiver, it’s borderline. Here I’ll show you how easy this is:
DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, Will Fuller, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Tyler Lockett, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Allen Robinson, Keenan Allen, Stefon Diggs, Amari Cooper, AJ Brown, Tyreek Hill, Julio Jones, DK Metcalf, Adam Thielen, Davante Adams, Deebo Samuel, DJ Chark, Michael Thomas, Kenny Golladay.
Sure, Wallace had Ben Roethlisberger but he also had to compete for targets with Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward, Emmanuel Sanders, and Heath Miller. McLaurin is the only show in town.
The only difference is that the Steelers are a well run organization. They drafted Wallace, got four great years out of him, then drafted another replacement for pennies on the dollar.
The Washington no-name franchise is a terrible organization. They will throw the bag at McLaurin and will turn into the Mike Wallace Dolphins or Vikings failing to provide surplus value on a big contract.
How sad and pathetic does your franchise have to be that you go out of your way to be offended by someone saying AJ Brown is underrated? McLaurin is a good player but he’s two or three tiers below someone like Brown. Have fun with your version of Mike Wallace while your teams sucks.
