What If Jaylen Warren Is Actually Good?
Steelers fans got mad at me the last time I simply tried to tell the truth. If there is a market for Najee Harris, the Steelers shouldn’t hesitate to trade him now. Yes, I know we’re still in the preseason, but did anybody watch Jaylen Warren this week?
That’s the only carry Warren received in the game. Here is all I know. At some point, we just have to be honest about what’s happening here. What if Warren is just better than Harris? If you click their Sports Reference pages in the links in the last sentence, it’s painfully obvious which running back is more efficient.
At some point, we gotta use our eyes and throw draft positioning out the window. I understand it’s hard but it happens. Washington had to do it with RG3 and Kirk Cousins. The 49ers did it with Trey Lance and Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy. The Steelers should do it here with the running back position.
The good news is both players can get reps but regardless… we’re way past the point of Harris being the workhorse back. Warren has proven he can play and deserves playing time.
If you look at recent fantasy rankings by Fantasy Pros, Harris is listed as RB10, and Warren at RB48. I’m sorry but how does that make sense? Why aren’t fantasy rankers using their eyes? Warren doesn’t just deserve playing time, he might totally overtake him as the starter by Week 12 when the fantasy playoffs start to come around.
We’re all seeing it and someone needs to start saying it. Warren is a bowling ball of hell that just looks way more explosive. What does Harris have going for him outside of being a really good impression of Leonard Fournette?
I have a hard time believing that Mike Tomlin is just going to let Warren rot on the bench while Najee takes every snap at running back. If he’s paying attention, Warren is ranked WAY too low in fantasy leagues.
