Watch: The Simpsons Hit & Run gets an open-world remake

The Simpsons Hit & Run was a classic PlayStation 2 game that offered endless hours of fun. It was an action-adventure game released in 2003 set in a small open-world in The Simpsons’ hometown of Springfield. This Radical Entertainment developed video game was essentially a PG version of Grand Theft Auto as it allowed gamers to follow the Simpsons family as they explored the weird problems plaguing Springfield.

The Simpsons Hit & Run was an absolute blast to play on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, but it has never been remade for newer generation consoles. That was until YouTuber reubs did a remake of the game using the Unreal Engine 5 with updated graphics, cut scenes, dialogue, and a beautiful looking open-world map. This was a truly awesome fan creation that demonstrated what a new remake would look like, but, unfortunately, his creation will not be available for gamers to download.

Here, is reubs’ fantastic-looking remake of The Simpsons Hit & Run.

This should bring a smile to the faces of a lot of gamers that enjoyed playing the original game almost 20 years ago.

The Simpsons was an animated sitcom that set the stage for a lot of adult animated television shows like Family Guy, American Dad, and Bob’s Burgers. The show debuted in 1989 and is now in its 34th season, with a full movie released in 2007 as well.

There is no doubt that The Simpsons has been a popular hit for multiple decades. It is amazing that they were able to translate that success into the gaming world with the fantastic gem that was the Simpsons Hit & Run game.

Other PlayStation 2 Classics

I loved the Simpsons Hit & Run game, but that was not one of the only gems that I grew up playing as a kid. There were plenty of PlayStation 2 classics, notably Mortal Kombat games, the Grand Theft Auto series and the Final Fantasy series. However, I want to focus on some lesser-known games that provided a whole lot of fun.

The first game I want to give a shout-out to is MLB Power Pros which was developed by 2K Sports and released in 2007. This fun baseball game used cartoon bobblehead players that were based on active MLB players. This game offered simple but exciting gameplay especially if you used the stacked American League All-Star team. Another PlayStation 2 classic was the Bully game which was created back in 2006. This Rockstar Games product allowed gamers to attend Bullworth academy as they tried to become one of the most popular students through a series of challenges and missions. Bully fans, such as Trey, have wondered if Rockstar Games will ever release a Bully 2

Finally, the last game I want to give praise to is the amazing Blitz the League. This PlayStation 2 classic offered fun football gameplay that was smothered in brutal hits, exhilarating big plays, and an interesting story mode. This unique title was not your average football gameplay, but every play was filled with craziness and enjoyable mayhem.
