Wander Franco under D.R. investigation for another alleged relationship with a minor

Well this situation just seems to continue to worsen for Wander Franco, as investigations in the Dominican Republic have revealed another complaint from a woman who says Franco was in a relationship with her while she was underage.

This now makes it three different women who have made these claims against Wander Franco, two of which have already filed formal complaints. The first one was filed back on July 17 around when the news first broke.

Investigations are still ongoing regarding the third woman, but at this point, it seems like, at the very least, a formal complaint is going to be filed.

Franco last played a game Aug. 12 and has been on paid administrative leave since Aug. 22. MLB investigations quickly began, which resulted in an even quicker move to the restricted list for Franco.

Franco has not officially addressed these allegations, staying silent up until this point. But he did briefly address these rumors when they were first brought up during a pregame interview.

“They say that I’m in public with a little girl, that I’m running around with a minor,” Franco said. “People don’t know what to do with their time. They don’t know what they’re talking about. That’s why I prefer to be on my side and not get involved with anybody … because people gossip and talk smack.”

This isn’t surprising as nobody expected Franco to just not act innocent while the investigation is ongoing. But all I can say is as this continues to go on, his innocence seems less and less likely.

What happens to Wander Franco’s contract if he gets convicted?

The Rays have already completely disassociated themselves with Franco for the time being, taking down all of his pictures in and around the stadium, in addition to editing him out of any promotional videos or commercials he was present in.

I can’t really say I blame the Rays for trying to get a head start on that one, because it’s really not looking good for Franco. The story is sickening and if this is true, then he deserves to be buried under the prison. If it’s somehow fake, though, then we’re all witness to the greatest smear job of all time.

But in my mind, that seems very unlikely. I just find it hard to believe that three different women are all in cahoots with each other. It’s certainly not impossible, but not very likely in my eyes.
