Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen is a fascinating player to talk about, so let’s do a deep dive on the 2025 NFL Draft profile for the Ole Miss defensive tackle! (Petre Thomas-Imagn Images)

Walter Nolen 2025 NFL Draft Profile

There are a ton of talented defensive tackles in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Walter Nolen is certainly part of that mix. There’s a lot to get to, so I’m not going to waste any time. Here is your profile on the Ole Miss defensive lineman!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 5Week 6, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3)

Nolen, 21, was a five star player coming out of high school. That, however, doesn’t really tell the full story. Nolen committed to Texas A&M, where he was also the number one player at his position and in the state of Tennessee. Travis Hunter was the only player ranked ahead of him in that recruiting cycle.

After two years with the Aggies, Nolen transferred to Ole Miss for his final collegiate campaign. 2024 was by far his best year. I have some snippets on the stock report notes after notching 6.5 sacks while playing the interior. Add in another 33 pressures too after not having a crazy impact while at Texas A&M. 2024 was also the first year he earned any accolades making the First-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-SEC lists this past season.

No Combine for the Ole Miss defensive tackle. He did, however, measure in at 6-foot-4, 296, and profiles as a nice three technique for any team. Maybe others disagree, but let’s be real about it. Nothing, in my opinion, is more important than what happened at the Senior Bowl. This dudes twitch is ridiculous. First step off the charts and he’s by you before you can blink. Just in those practice settings, you can see he’s a rare talent.

Here’s the other important factor for Nolen. When you watch, the strength is obvious. He’s not winning because he’s just out-athleting people (which is already hard to do because it’s the SEC). You can see he has a real power element. He’s still raw but he’s sure as hell not weak. Probably needs to continue to work on his craft pass rushing wise, but nobody is a finished product right now. I don’t see effort being an issue here either. Just knows he’s talented and need a lion tamer to get the most out of him.

Walter Nolen might be one of the biggest boom/bust players in the draft. He’s definitely not a sure thing, but his talent is undeniable and may be too hard to pass on once you get to the back end of the first round. That’s probably the best possible thing for him right now to go to a team with success that can fill in as a top talent with other talented players already on the roster to get the most out of him.
