Von Erich family member comments on ‘Iron Claw’ biopic trailer starring Zac Efron

The Von Erich wrestling family will be immortalized with Zac Efron in a leading role, but what does Marshall Von Erich think?

The Von Erich Family story is one of the most tragic accounts in pro wrestling history since tragedy befell most of the family members. At their height, the Von Erichs were a team of brothers who competed in promotions like WCCW and WWF. The entire family was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016, with the last surviving brother, Kevin Von Erich accepting the award. Kevin will notably be portrayed by Zac Efron in the upcoming biopic.

It was earlier reported that The Iron Claw would see a release in Dec. of 2023, and this week the first trailer for the movie dropped. The youngest son of Kevin, Marshall Von Erich, recently reacted to the trailer but seemed a bit let down by the inaccuracies and possibly how Zac Efron portrayed his father.

“I knew it wouldn’t be 100% accurate because my Dad wasn’t Involved but those of you that know our family know that God played a major role in our story,” he said on Twitter Wednesday. “Still excited about it and think it can help a lot of people that are suffering from loss. They nailed the wardrobe tho.”

With only two months out before The Iron Claw’s release, it remains to be seen if the movie will be well received or not. Zac Efron’s body transformation has notably been commented on by many fans. Additionally, many have praised his acting range as Kevin Von Erich.

Other than Zac Efron, who else was cast as one of the Von Erich brothers?

As mentioned above, Zac Efron will portray the last remaining Von Erich brother, Kevin Von Erich. Jeremy Allen White of Shameless Fame will take on the role of Kerry Von Erich, who found some success in WWF but tragically took his own life in 1993.

Harris Dickinson, best known for a starring role in Beach Rats, will play David Von Erich, who died in 1984 from an apparent acute enteritis. Lastly, Stanley Simons is cast as Mike Von Erich, who also took his own life in 1987.

AEW World Champion MJF is also notably cast as Lance Von Erich, a kayfabe family member of the brothers, and Chavo Guerrero Jr. will portray the late-wrestler The Sheik–not to be confused with The Iron Sheik. It remains to be seen if Zac Efron will portray Kevin faithfully, and while Marshall has noted some inconsistencies, he seems excited about the film.
