A Video Game Could Could Never Emulate Mark Stone

Out of all of the sports video games that exist, EA Sports NHL is by far the worst one. I’ll never purchase a copy of that game again. I love hockey, the video game itself is a trash product. I understand that the analog stick is important for capturing the real life skill the NHL offers. However, I’d argue they can add all the buttons in the world and it will never emulate who Mark Stone is.

The last time I did play the game, I tried to do a franchise mode with the Golden Knights. My team was actually good and I was winning games. It still wasn’t fun but I failed to see how the game emulated certain players. Mark Stone was TRASH in that game. I couldn’t score a goal or do anything with him.

I understand some games certain players will translate better than others. They completely missed the boat with Stone. That man is a ghost on the ice. Swiping pucks, making sick passes, and pocketing goals with all the emotion. EA Sports NHL got zero of those things right.

EA Sports NHL is just a trash product. In the game, I did a sim to finish out the season because I was absolutely over playing this turd game. Somehow garbage Montreal won the Cup. The same team that had the first overall pick this past year and are at the bottom of the Atlantic Division again in 2023. If that didn’t single that the game was broken, I don’t know what will.

If the NHL wants to create a real video game that will appease their fans, it’s time to bring back NHL Hitz. All of the things that Stone and other players do well will then be transparent for everyone to see. Those mega hits, tipped in goals, player emotion, etc will all be on display.

Dear EA Sports. Nobody really likes your trash game. The people that do can keep playing it. All I ask is that you also drop an annual version of NHL Hitz too for the people that don’t have 150 hours (literally) to play your game and learn all the analog stick moves in a game that provides zero training ground. I might hate the training ground in FIFA but that’s only when they make you do it in career mode. It doesn’t exist at all in the NHL game and that should be considered a travesty.

Want to bring more viewers to the sports? Bring back the Hitz game. Start there. Then more people will watch and realize all the cool things Mark Stone can actually do on the ice.
