Our partners at SimBull introduced a new contest this season called the “SimBull Six” and Karl Heiser and Adam Krieger will give you our picks each week. We took a week off last week, but we went 4-2 in Week 8, making us 25-23 on the season so far. To date, Karl is 16-8 and Adam is 9-15. Here are our Week 8 picks.

No. 6 Michigan (-0.5) vs. Penn State (+0.5) – Adam’s Pick

Pick: Penn State (+0.5)

If 85% of the “money” on this game wasn’t coming in on Michigan I would probably go with the Wolverines, but I have been fading the public this year and I can’t stop now. Happy Valley is going to be rocking, and this is a game that Penn State gets up for no matter what their record is. Give me the home dog, fade the public. Don’t think, just pick.

No. 8 Oklahoma (-5.5) vs. No. 13 Baylor (+5.5) – Adam’s Pick

Pick: Oklahoma (-5.5)

Time is ticking for the Sooners to prove to the College Football Playoff Committee that they belong. They are undefeated yet on the outside looking in, and this is a chance to prove they are a top four team in the country. This is a prime chance for them to beat a conference team on the road. Good teams win, great teams cover – if they want to be considered a great team they need to buckle up and beat the Bears wire-to-wire.

No. 11 Texas A&M (-2.5) vs. No. 15 Ole Miss (+2.5) – Adam’s Pick

Pick: Texas A&M (-2.5)

Three games, three away teams. College football has been so insane and awesome this year. It’s great. It truly Is Georgia and then everyone else at this point so I’ll take the chaos and all three away teams to cover.

Cleveland Browns (+1.5) vs. New England Patriots (-1.5) – Karl’s Pick

Pick: Browns (+1.5)

Cleveland looks like they figured something out with an explosive performance against the Bengals. They played like the team we expected them to be from the start of the year. The Patriots have been a surprise this year for sure, but they are super reliant on their defense and have a very limited offense. I think the Browns can play a second good game in a row, although it’s entirely possible Baker Mayfield is just THAT inconsistent.

Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (+2.5) – Karl’s Pick

Pick: Chiefs (-2.5)

Two teams that have looked extremely unconvincing thus far. The Chiefs haven’t been able to cover a spread to save their lives this year (2-7 ATS), but this line is small enough that I still feel comfortable taking them. The Raiders just put up an absolute dud against the Giants, and they don’t seem like the type of team to respond well to something like that. I would hope Patrick Mahomes can do enough to keep Kansas City up by at least a field goal, even with a disastrous defense.

Los Angeles Rams (-4) vs. San Francisco 49ers (+4) – Karl’s Pick

Pick: Rams (-4)

The 49ers are flat out not good. They have lost five of their last six and just gave up 31 points to an offense led by Colt McCoy (go Colt McCoy!). The Rams will be looking for a bounce back after a tough loss to the Titans, and they generally play pretty well on the road. Matt Stafford should light it up. LA all the way.
