USMNT Defender Miles Robinson Signs With FC Cincinnati

FC Cincinnati announced the signing of USMNT defender Miles Robinson on Wednesday. The club signed Robinson on a free transfer after his contract with Atlanta United expired following the conclusion of the 2023 season. He has signed a contract through 2024 with the option to extend for 2025.

“We are thrilled that Miles chose to continue his career in Cincinnati,” FC Cincinnati general manager Chris Albright said via release. “He is an elite defender with a dynamic skillset who already has an incredible amount of MLS and international experience. His personality and character are an immediate addition to our locker room and we’d like to welcome him to FC Cincinnati.”

The 26-year-old center-back had spent his entire career in Atlanta after being drafted second in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft from Syracuse University. During his time in Atlanta, he made 150 total appearances for the club–123 of these were in the MLS, where he also netted three goals and provided two assists.

He helped Atlanta win the U.S. Open Cup, the Campeones Cup and the 2018 MLS Cup. He was also named to the MLS Best XI in 2019.

Many thought Robinson would make the jump to Europe this winter after his contract with Atlanta expired. A move to PSV, where he would join USMNT teammates Ricardo Pepi, Malik Tillman and Sergiño Dest who joined the Eredivisie club over the summer, seemed likely. Robinson, however, has decided to stay stateside and join the 2023 MLS Supporter’s Shield winners.

“I’m very excited to be signing for FC Cincinnati,” Robinson said. “This is an amazing organization from top to bottom, and I will do everything in my power to win more trophies for the passionate fans and outstanding people of this city. I’m ecstatic to play my first home game at TQL stadium.”
