USFL: Want To Smoke During Practice? Go For It. Want Pizza? Pack Your Bags
The USFL is something else, to say the least. You can’t have pizza, but you can smoke cigarettes during practice.
A player got cut for wanting to have pizza instead of chicken salad, which is just absolutely ridiculous in isolation. I do not care who you are or where you came from, that even happening is just an embarrassment and screams someone went on a power trip. However, a video emerged from the USFL Gambler’s TikTok that showed a player with a cigarette in his mouth, umm what?
This is just, ridiculous. A player gets cut for wanting pizza instead of chicken salad, and someone’s dream of playing professional football gets shattered because he just wanted a slice of pizza. Pizza is amazing, why cut someone over that? From what I was able to gather from watching videos of a conversation between the player and coach, it was a massive misunderstanding and it seemed like the coach wanted to just flex his muscles a little bit. The whole pizza situation is just embarrassing, but now this?
A USFL team promoted their player seemingly smoking a cigarette during practice. Now, it was later revealed that it was a prop cigarette because the USFL’s TikTok account commented and said that they were launching an investigation. The player, who is linebacker Reggie Northrup, then said that he does not smoke and that it was a prop cigarette, but what’s the point of it at all? Northrup said it is”an attitude,” and that it is “a symbolism of an attitude.”
It made for a fun video and reaction along with bringing some attention to the league. It’s just tough to see how someone gets cut for wanting pizza but another player can use a prop cigarette and have their team promote it on TikTok.
