The nightmare is over. The higher-ups at USC have finally wised up and fired defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. I called for it mere hours ago after another embarrassing performance against Washington, and Ross Dellenger broke the news Sunday afternoon. Grinch has done a horrific job during his year-and-a-half as the defensive coordinator, and last night appears to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
USC has dismissed defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, sources tell @YahooSports.

Alex Grinch being fired should be music to USC fans all over. This bum should have been fired during the off-season last year, but for whatever reason he kept his job going into the 2023 season. I like to believe the USC athletic director called Lincoln Riley last night and said, “Look, if you don’t fire this piece of garbage, I will.”
If Grinch were a halfway-average defensive coordinator, USC would likely be undefeated this year and a real contender for the College Football Playoff. But now USC has three losses on the year and is now out of contention for a Pac-12 Championship berth.
Caleb Williams deserved so much better than being stuck with a useless defensive coordinator. Alex Grinch not only deserved to be fired but should not be allowed on a college sideline again. I don’t care if you think that is too harsh or not. Williams is a generational talent, and because of Grinch’s inability to be a competent coach, his USC career is wasted.
I say good riddance to Grinch and never hope to hear his name again. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
