Caleb Williams’ Mom Is A Real One

Make no mistake about it, the 2023 USC football season has been a disaster. With the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams returning, and a big-time coach finally settling in, this was supposed to be a year they contended.

The 2023 season has been far from that, and Williams is responsible. But one thing we learned after the Trojans suffered another tragic loss: Caleb Williams’s Mom is a real one.

After USC lost at home 52-42 to Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington Huskies, Caleb Williams went to the stands to see his family. As soon as he saw his mom, she hugged him on one side, and covered the other side of his face with a poster.

Mothers always know best, and when she saw her son walking over, there was something in her eyes that told her that he was about to break down.

I am no body language expert by any means, but that looks like a man who is sobbing in his mother’s arms. I don’t blame him, this season has sucked for them and crying is good for the soul every now and then. It sucks it happened in the stadium like that, but his mom knew what was good and just protected her son.

The 21-year-old quarterback and the Trojans suffered their third loss of the season, and guaranteed they have no chance of sneaking back into the college football playoff conversation. If Williams sat out, it wouldn’t shock anyone, as he can just take the rest of the season off and ensure he is healthy coming into the draft.

I wonder how much playing this season hurt his draft stock overall, I can’t imagine too many scouts love the idea of their quarterback regressing year over year.

I guess we will just have to see what happens next, and if he ever plays another snap at USC.
