UFC Vegas 88 is not a great fight card, but several strong bets can be made. Here are three of the best bets for the event. (Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports)

UFC Vegas 88 Best Bets

UFC Vegas 88 is one of the weaker UFC Apex offerings the promotion has provided recently. Still, the event can be attacked from a betting perspective. Here are three of the best bets for UFC Vegas 88.

Tai Tuivasa -118

The first bet that I like for UFC Vegas 88 is for Tai Tuivasa to beat Marcin Tybura. The bout is closely lined as Tuivasa is -118 while Tybura is -102.

Tuivasa is going to have a lot of advantages while this fight is standing. That is mostly because Tybura is slow. Tuivasa should be able to track Tybura down and throw big shots. If Tybura throws back, Tuivasa is live to land a counter.

The biggest concern with this bet is the grappling. Tybura will hold a sizeable grappling advantage. If Tybura can land takedowns, he will do a lot of strong work from the top position. The one saving grace for Tuivasa is that he is dangerous in the clinch. That will make it harder for Tybura to get this fight to the ground.

Ultimately, as I said earlier, I think Tuivasa has multiple ways to land big strikes. If that is the case, I have to take him to win this fight. Tuivasa has lethal power and can end the fight with one shot. At -118, I am willing to lay slight chalk with that expectation.

Bryan Battle ITD +250

The second bet I like for UFC Vegas 88 is for Bryan Battle to beat Ange Loosa inside the distance. That prop is currently lined at +250. Battle is a -180 favorite on the money line while Loosa is a +150 underdog.

Battle is a proven finisher in the UFC. In his five promotional wins, he has four finishes. On the feet, Battle has powerful kicks. On the ground, he has landed submissions from various positions.

In this specific matchup, Battle will have various chances to end the fight. The biggest opening for a finish will be Loosa’s cardio. Loosa has slowed in fights. That results in sloppy grappling exchanges. That is very bad against Battle because he has shown quality front chokes. Furthermore, Loosa has been badly hurt in striking exchange. He has had multiple close encounters despite never being finished in the UFC. A more potent finisher can finish him.

At +250, Battle to win inside the distance is one of my favorite bets on UFC Vegas 88.

Christian Rodriguez +164

The final bet I like for UFC Vegas 88 is for Christian Rodriguez to beat Isaac Dulgarian. The bout is currently lined with Rodriguez as a +164 underdog while Dulgarian is a -198.

I should note that I really like both of these fighters. I do not plan on making a habit of betting against Dulgarian. The price is what drives this bet.

This fight is filled with questions. On the Dulgarian side, he has shown tremendous offensive grappling and lethal finishing on the ground, but that is it. We don’t know how Dulgarian will look in striking exchanges and his cardio is untested. That is a lot of unknowns for a -198 favorite. At the same time, Rodriguez is moving up to featherweight after missing weight in previous bantamweight bouts. How will he perform up a weight class?

In my opinion, all of these questions should move the line closer to a pick ‘em. Therefore, the underdog is the side.

Rodriguez also has the skills to justify a bet. If he was a bum, the conversation would be different. In the UFC, Rodriguez has shown dangerous submissions, good cardio, and a varied striking attack.

At +164, Rodriguez is a solid bet for UFC Vegas 88. The litany of questions on Dulgarian paired with the skills of Rodriguez leads to a lot of scenarios where Rodriguez could cash as an underdog.
