If you’re here for truth serum, maybe stick around cause that’s all I’m willing to provide with my draft coverage. Let’s just get right into it with the Tyson Bagent 2023 NFL Draft profile!
The positive here is that the production is off the charts. It’s pretty impossible to get a Senior Bowl invite playing at Sheperd. Begent set a bunch of D2 records including 17,034 passing yards and 171 total touchdowns during his collegiate career.
Then again, we know the saying by now on D2 athletes. Not good enough to go D1. Not smart enough to go D3. Welcome to D2!
The athletic traits are also kinda there. A 4.79 40 time and 36 inch vertical are really good numbers for a quarterback. The size is also a plus. 6-foot-3 is good enough. However, when you really boil it down, it just feels like Bagent is the D2 version of Stetson Bennett. Keep in mind, nobody really thinks Bennett is going to make it big at the NFL level sooooo.
The pure arm strength is fine but borders on not good enough. The footwork is all over the place. Bagent can make throws but he looked lost playing against better competition. You can read more on his Senior Bowl experience here, but long story short; he was basically the worst player on the field.
I have an undraftable grade on Tyson Bagent with no reason to invite to a preseason roster. Not to be overly harsh but what’s the point?
