Tyrese Haliburton Reveals Who The Best Defender In The NBA Is

Who is the best defender in the NBA? Tyrese Haliburton revealed his opinion after Game One of the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals. Jrue Holiday locked up Haliburton in the game in which the Celtics prevailed. Afterward, Haliburton was super complimentary of the Celtics guard.

“He’s the best defender in the NBA,” Haliburton said. “He has been for a long time.” 

Holiday, 33, was named to the All-NBA Second Team defense this year. The award is positionless or otherwise he would have been on the first team list. Derrick White also made the list showing just how hard it is to navigate against that Celtics backcourt.

The stats after game one back up exactly what Haliburton said.

I’m not sure the Celtics win that Game One without Jrue. He’s been so clutch for them all season and it’s been in more ways than one. He’s sacrificed all year offensively and has been a model citizen on and off the court.

It’s also worth noting how lucky the Celtics got with this deal. The Bucks screwed this up bad. They got worse after making the deal with Portland for Damian Lillard. The alternate universe where Holiday isn’t on the Celtics is a scary one to think about.
