Tyreek Hill is aiming high when it comes to goals for the 2020 season. No player in the history of the NFL has ever reached the 2,000 yard mark at the wide receiver position. Hill wants to be the first to do so. Hill is itching to top 2,000 receiving yards for the 2020 season.
Hill recently made an appearance on the “Getcha Popcorn Ready” podcast with Terrell Owens were he talked about his goals for 2020:
“One of my goals is, in all of my YouTube videos, I’ve been saying I want to get 2,000 receiving yards,” Hill said. “That’s like a whole other level. That’s like Mamba mentality though for me. I’ve got to stay locked in. I’ve got to get the proper rest. I’ve got to put the right things in my body. For the game, it’s going to be easy then. That’s been my main goal and my main thing this year.”
Hill, 26, hasn’t gotten super close to that 2,000 yard mark before. In 2018, the former Oklahoma State product notched 1,479 yards playing in all 16 games. Obviously health is going to be a big factor in trying to attain this mark. Hill has left a number of games early for nagging injuries.
There is no question that Hill is a game breaking talent. He has 41 touchdowns in 4 NFL seasons. A pretty good mark for a former 6th round pick who wasn’t inserted in the lineup right away.
It’s worth stating that this is no easy mark. Calvin Johnson has gotten the closest with 1,964 yards in 2012. No other receiver has even eclipsed that 1,900 yard mark. Julio Jones comes in second on the list with 1,871 in 2015. 7 running backs have gone over the 2,000 yard marks so it seems like only a matter of time before a wide receiver does so. Will Hill be the first? Having Pat Mahomes on your side helps.
