Tutu Atwell 2021 NFL Draft Profile

Tutu Atwell enters the 2021 NFL Draft as the more heralded Louisville wide receiver. If you want to check out the Dez Fitzpatrick draft profile, we have you covered. Atwell is a flashy wide receiver that teams will likely covet on draft day. Let’s go over the Tutu Atwell 2021 NFL Draft profile.

The biggest red flag with Atwell is definitely his size. The Miami native checks in at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds. Not surprisingly, Atwell also has small arms (29 inches) and small hands (8.875 inches). The list of success stories of wide receivers that size don’t exist.

Atwell is so small, I don’t even know if there’s a comp for him. Atwell isn’t just small, the comps don’t exist. I get serious Tavon Austin vibes here. Even Austin was 185 pounds. The biggest fear for Atwell is he turns into that sort of player. Just too small to make a real impact and fails to secure any sort of role in an offense.

You would think someone with these measurables would be a special teams ace. That’s not really the case either. Atwell has very limited work returning kicks. Maybe he can do it but it’s not something on his resume as of now either.

We do know one thing about Tutu. The guy can run. He clocked in a 4.32 at the Louisville pro day. That wasn’t surprising. Atwell is a ready made deep threat. He can also take those jet sweeps to the house. You can’t take that away from the guy.

Atwell also has the production on his side. 2019 he was first team All-ACC leading the conference with 1,276 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. The following year, Atwell followed it up with 46 receptions, 625 yards, and seven scores.

Atwell is a playmaker. The hope is you have a DeSean Jackson on your hands. I just don’t think that’s realistic here. Jackson was much more electric in college – and much bigger. I would lean more towards the Tavon Austin realm here.
