Turns Out Jon Gruden Taught Patrick Mahomes How To Kick His Ass For The Next 15 Years

Is Patrick Mahomes a product of Jon Gruden? It’s hard to say. All I know is the butterfly effect is real. In the Spring of 2017, Patrick Mahomes sat down with Jon Gruden to go over film in the QB camp for ESPN. In one of the funnier flashback videos of all-time, who would have known that Mahomes would later rip Gruden’s guts out for what seems like will be an eternity.

My favorite part is Gruden comparing Mahomes to Favre. Gruden coached Favre and you could tell Gruden was in on Mahomes. I know back in his ESPN days, Gruden loved everybody but you can see the extra twinkle in his eyes. I think Gruden thinks he could have made Mahomes better than he is right now.

How many more years is Mahomes going to rip out Gruden’s soul? Gruden will have 8 years left on his contract with the Raiders. That’s assuming he makes it that long. Mahomes is a 3rd year quarterback. It’s fair to wonder if Gruden ever even sniffs a division title. He’s just going to keep getting his ass kicked by that young buck in this video.

To Gruden’s credit, he did say he would take Mahomes number one overall before the draft. Hell of a call. Too bad he’s stuck with Derek Carr… for now.

What can Mahomes do for an encore? Just earlier this year, he put up 28 points on the Raiders in the 2nd quarter. Mahomes can beat the Raiders by himself in a quarter.
