Georgia just landed another one out of the transfer portal. The Dawgs have already added two receivers in the form of Colbie Young from Miami and London Humphreys from Vandy. Now Georgia is adding a running back to the fold as well. Trevor Etienne is transferring to Georgia and will join the Dawgs running back room in 2024.
247 Sports was the first to report the news of Etienne landing in Athens.
Etienne, 19, will finish his career at Florida with 249 carries for 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also added 30 receptions for 238 yards and another score through the air. Etienne proved he was a really good player behind what was a shaky situation at Florida.
Of course, Trevor is the younger brother of Jaguars running back Travis Etienne. Trevor is listed as an inch shorter and 10 pounds lighter but he may grow into that once he’s able to declare for the draft. The younger Etienne appears to be a better inside runner but maybe not quite as dangerous in the passing game.
Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton are both seniors and are off to the NFL. Both of whom were the primary running backs for the Dawgs this year. Etienne will likely split carries with Branson Robinson who will be returning from injury. Cash Jones, Roderick Robinson, and Andrew Paul are among the other options on the depth chart.
It’s hard to blame Etienne. It’s a much better situation in terms of setting up his NFL future. Go play for this team and win while doing it. It doesn’t seem like Florida has produced a good NFL running back since Emmitt Smith. You can name about 100 recent Georgia backs that have been successful at the NFL level. Etienne will likely be next.
