Top Five Rookies With Highest Fantasy Value In 2021

A number of rookies make an impact on their team from the get-go every year. Last season, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Justin Jefferson had strong starts to their NFL careers and produced consistently for the duration of the season, but any rookie can make a smooth and productive transition from college to the pros. These are five rookies who will produce the most for your fantasy football team this upcoming season.

Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Ja’Marr Chase put up impressive numbers at his pro day, running a 4.38 40 yard dash and posting a 41-inch vertical. Chase has magnets for hands, can track the ball downfield with the best of them, and is explosive off the line. Cincinnati has given Joe Burrow a chance to reunite with his favorite target at LSU, (where they both received accolades) and the rookie wideout could easily surpass Tee Higgins as WR1 for the Bengals. If the former LSU teammates can pick up where they left off in 2019, Chase has a very good chance to be one of the top rookies in fantasy football for 2021.

Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Only one name, Zach Banner, returned to the Steelers’ offensive line this upcoming season, and he suffered a torn ACL last season. Banner’s injury, alongside the loss of 9x Pro Bowler Maurkice Pouncey and veteran Alejandro Villanueva, could be a recipe for disaster in the Pittsburgh backfield, but thankfully they drafted Najee Harris out of Alabama in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Shifty for his size and possessing great ball protection skills and good pass-catching ability, Harris could turn out to be a force this year, especially in PPR leagues. Despite an iffy offensive line, Harris is on this list because he should see a sizeable workload, especially considering Big Ben is entering his 18th season in the league.

Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons were the perfect landing spot for Kyle Pitts even before they traded away Julio Jones to the Tennessee Titans. Pitts has a chance to make an immediate impact as a pass-catcher for the Atlanta Falcons, as his speed and athleticism make him a mismatch nightmare for just about every safety or linebacker that will be forced to line up against him in 2021. The only true weakness Pitts has displayed during his college career at Florida was his blocking, and in fantasy football, blocking does not mean shit.

Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars

I am excited to see the Jaguars’ offense in 2021. With an underrated receiving core of D.J. Chark, Laviska Shenault Jr., and newly acquired Marvin Jones Jr., Trevor Lawrence has the weapons necessary to put up solid numbers in fantasy this year, although the offensive line could prove to be an issue. Returning all five starters from 2020, the o-line tied for the seventh most sacks allowed last season, but if the unit improves in 2021, Lawrence should be the best fantasy rookie.

Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami Dolphins

If Jaylen Waddle can stay healthy throughout the season, he could be a matchup nightmare for every defense he faces. Waddle has insane speed and his ability to sell routes at all three levels is extremely rare and will force DBs to respect his deep threat ability, allowing him to rack up receptions in short and mid-yardage situations. Still, Waddle is always capable of taking it the distance and his college stats speak for themselves. With 11 of his 20 career touchdowns going for 50+ yards at the University of Alabama, Waddle could make a big splash in fantasy football this year.
