Tom Thibodeau has officially been hired as the New York Knicks head coach. I don’t necessarily hate the hire. I have always like Thibs as a HC, but he has fallen off as of late. He’s looking to get back on track with the Knicks, and hopefully, the Knicks look to get back on track with him. The Knicks statement about the hire via NBC NBA:
The New York Knicks announced today that Tom Thibodeau has been named the 31st head coach in franchise history. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. “Tom Thibodeau is a proven winner who gets the most out of the players and teams that he has coached,” said Leon Rose, president, New York Knicks.
“He will bring leadership, accountability and a hard-working mentality to our organization. We are excited to bring him back to New York and look forward to collaborating with him and his staff toward a successful future.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to this historic franchise as head coach and work alongside a talented front office that I have great trust in and respect for,” said Thibodeau. “I know what New York is like when the Knicks are successful and there is nothing comparable. I look forward to being a part of what we are building here and can’t wait to get to work.”
Tom Thibodeau has his work cut out for him in New York. While the Knicks have promising prospects like Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks young players need to develop or the Knicks will have more busts on their hands. Luckily, with some cap room this year, the Knicks will look to make a couple big splashes in Free Agency to try to compete. The biggest knack on Tom Thibodeau is his tendency to overplay players, making more tired as the season goes on. We will see if he adjusts that plan or how well the Knicks players will adjust to it.
