How much do you care about sample size? In the case of Tiyon Evans, there really isn’t much to go by. This profile won’t take long mostly because Evans’ career won’t take long to summarize. Without further ado, let’s go over the 2023 NFL Draft Profile for Tiyon Evans.
The recruiting background is there. Former 4-star guy that originally committed to Tennessee. Well, I guess I should say that Evans originally went to Hutchinson Community College in 2019 and then lost his 2020 season because the school didn’t play because of the pandemic. At Tennessee in 2021, Evans rushed for 525 yards on 83 attempts and six touchdowns.
Evans transferred to Louisville for the 2022 season and once again had his season cut short because of injury. It was basically an identical season for Evans. For Louisville this past year he rushed for 525 yards on 81 carries and six touchdowns.
Weird…
The stuff we have seen from Evans is positive. 5-foot-9, 225, and runs a 4.52. Low center of gravity with a good mix of power and speed. The guy can play. I’m just not sure anybody knows the pure ceiling here.
How much is Evans worth the gamble? At what point are you willing to take him? That’s the real question. Actually… the questions really go beyond the sample size. We have no real track record for third down or special teams ability. Evans also fumbled three times a year ago which should viewed as totally unacceptable given the number of attempts he had.
Good luck. That’s all I got. Tiyon Evans is one of the biggest mysteries at the running back position. Personally, if he’s there as an undrafted free agent, I’m willing to sign him. Other than that, I just don’t think there is enough to go on to use a draft pick here.
