Titans Fire Mike Vrabel
Mike Vrabel is out in Tennessee. I think a large group of people thought that was coming. I’m just not sure we saw him being fired in the process. The Titans are moving on and Vrabel is out as head coach.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the news:
The Titans followed up with their own press release on the matter.
If you read the site, it was easy to see the tea leaves here. There was a report yesterday that Vrabel was highly interested in the Patriots head coaching job. Assuming that New England eventually moves on from Bill Belichick. Of course, Vrabel played for the Patriots for a long time. If Robert Kraft is going to move on from the Belichick era, Vrabel is a very logical choice to replace him. A younger version of Belichick that understands the Patriot way.
More than anything, Vrabel deserves a fresh start here too. We’re talking about a guy that’s won a lot of games with inferior talent. With Derrick Henry also on his way out, it was time for Vrabel to seek greener pastures too. Vrabel, 48, finishes his Titans tenure with a 54-45 record. That’s not including a 2-3 postseason record where Vrabel led Tennessee to the AFC Title game in 2019. Doing that with Ryan Tannehill is no easy feat.
Vrabel will surely be in high demand on the open market. Time will tell what happens next with New England being a logical next destination.
