Texans Won’t Hire GM For 2020

The Texans won’t hire a GM For 2020. Bill O’Brien is drunk with power. Someone take the keys away! (Jim Brown/USA TODAY Sports)

Somebody take the keys away from Bill O’Brien. He’s gone mad with power and is driving the Texans into the ground. Well, the Texans like the way things are going with O’Brien overpaying for everything. Despite Houston’s pursuit of Nick Caserio, they have now reversed course. They won’t hire a General manager for the 2020 season. Good hell.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network had the following:

“When the Texans’ courtship of New England Patriots top executive Nick Caserio fell through this past offseason, the thought was simple: Houston would wait until after the draft and hire Caserio then. That does not appear to be the plan, anymore.

Sources say that the Texans plan to continue this offseason and beyond with their current personnel structure rather than hire a true general manager in title. Coach Bill O’Brien has final say, though he essentially works with the team’s executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby to be in charge of football operations.”

Somebody pray for Deshaun Watson. It would be nice if someone actually tried to help him rather than hurt him. The trade for Laremy Tunsil was necessary but he paid way too much for him. The Jadeveon Clowney trade was laughable. He essentially swapped Duke Johnson for Clowney. O’Brien has been robbed at every turn.

Houston is 7-4 because Deshaun Watson has been brilliant. It’s Nuk Hopkins (who O’Brien thought about trading) and nothing. This team is headed down a dangerous path. It won’t end well. They don’t have enough talent for Watson to just carry them. Pray for Watson. This is such a joke.

My favorite line in the article from Rap Sheet is…

“It’s a unique setup, but one that has worked for the Texans.”

Add it to the list of reasons why I hate Ian Rapoport. It hasn’t worked. Houston has one of the 5 best quarterbacks on the planet and they constantly underachieve. They’re not a playoff team in the NFC. They’re struggling to beat the Non Andrew Luck Colts, Nick Foles / Gardner Minshew Jaguars, and Ryan Tannehill Titans. This is called working?
