Not everything is so black and white. Not everyone is as blunt as I am and will say the first inane thought that comes to their head. For better or for worse that’s how I operate 99% of the time. This is one of those gray areas that isn’t flat-out said, but the writing is on the wall. Or you have to read between the lines. Terry Stotts has resigned from the Milwaukee Bucks staff. Think about that. The Bucks, a title contender already, just might have increased their chances to win a championship by getting Damian Lillard, and one of your assistant coaches resigns. Fishy.
Well, it’s fishy until you look at the history of Terry Stotts and Damian Lillard together. Terry Stotts coached the Portland Trailblazers and Dame himself. His first year with the Blazers was when Damian Lillard was a rookie and they were together for the next 9 years until Stotts eventually got the boot. Nine years with the same franchise player and not much success to show for it other than a few playoff runs, but no Finals run and only one Conference finals appearance. You finally get away from the guy, take about 2 years off from coaching, and sign on to be an assistant coach for Milwaukee.
Then your new team supposedly hates you and trades for the guy that you just spent the last 9 years coaching with. I don’t know, that would make me want to resign too. Even though I only signed with the team less than 4 months ago. Terry Stotts is tired of Damian Lillard, or he hates him, either way, that is the only explanation for the resignation. I don’t blame the guy, it would be like working with someone you didn’t like for 9 years and going to a new company and having that same asshole show up. I’d quit too.
What’s next for Terry Stotts? Is he going to retire so Damian Lillard doesn’t follow him? Did he enjoy his 2 years off and said, yeah I don’t really need this shit anymore? Or does he go to a new team as far away as he can from Dame? We’ll see.
