Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2019 NFL Training Camp Preview

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Devin White the tackling machine. Coming to a theater nearest you. Do the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need any other reason to get excited about the start of training camp? (Kyle Zedaker/Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

I’m so excited for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season. I know I probably shouldn’t, but I am. Bruce Arians is going to make such a difference. If he doesn’t, then we know it’s time to get rid of Jameis Winston. The Bucs could be better than you think. Talent is not the issue with this team. Let’s check out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2019 training camp preview to see if they can turn things around?

3 Position Battles To Watch:

Defensive End: Jason Pierre-Paul, Anthony Nelson, Carl Nassib, Noah Spence, William Gholston

Jason Pierre-Paul is dealing with another injury off the field. Somehow, this is worse than when he lost his fingers playing with fireworks. Now JPP has a major neck injury. The rest of the group is unproven. Noah Spence is living off of one great year. The rest has been subpar. I still don’t know what Carl Nassib is. Rookie Anthony Nelson of Iowa is just okay? Let’s see what the rest of the group brings to the table.

Running Back: Ronald Jones, Peyton Barber, Dare Ogunbowale

C’mon, Ronald. It’s your time to shine. Tampa Bay didn’t sign or draft a running back for a reason. They believe in Ronald Jones. It’s his tine to shine. Peyton Barber is a short yardage guy. That’s it. If Jones is going to hit, it’s going to be this year.

Cornerback: Carlton Davis, MJ Stewart, Vernon Hargreaves, Sean Bunting, Jamel Dean

It seems like whatever the Bucs try to do, they never get it right. I was high on Vernon Hargreaves and he has been a disappointment. The Bucs have tried to invest in the draft. They still have issues. Let’s hope they finally got it right.

Ready To Breakout: OJ Howard

What OJ Howard started to do last year was emerge as the best young tight end in football. Then he got hurt and killed the momentum. In back to back years, Howard has averaged exactly 16.6 yards per catch. That’s explosive!

Rookie To Watch: Devin White

How can you take your eyes off the guy? Devin White has the world. He’s a 5 tool linebacker if that phrase exists. Speed, range, tackling, blitz ability, and instincts. White is can’t miss. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Fantasy Sleeper: Chris Godwin

Bruce Arians claims Chris Godwin is going to catch 100 balls. When he speaks, I listen. DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries are gone. Godwin has a big opportunity. I think he can cash in.
