Can one of the greatest movies ever made stand the test of time? Netflix recently added Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby on their library. You know I had to go watch it. Full transparency, this is one of my favorite movies ever. Will Ferrell is easily one of the funniest humans alive. The question is would the movie be funny all those years later?
Of course, it was… This is one of the greatest movies of all-time. Bar none. Just think about all the epic quotes in this movie alone:
“I’m going to come at you like a spider monkey”
“If you don’t chew Big Red, then fuck you”
“What do I do with my hands”
“Dear, 6 pound, 3 ounce, baby Jesus”
If you haven’t seen this movie, what is wrong with you? It has to be the best Will Ferrell movie ever and he’s had a lot of bangers. Think about this. I couldn’t have less interest in Nascar. Talladega Nights? Oh, that gets asses in seats. Nobody knows how to get a crowd going quite like Ricky Bobby. If he was a real character, I think I’d watch Nascar.
10 out of 10 every time you turn it on. In terms of pure comedies, this has to be near the top of the list. Even after rewatching it, Talladega Nights was just as funny as the first time. The real question is, has anyone not seen this movie? It’s time to shake and bake baby!
No spoilers. Just go watch it. End of blog.
Side Note: If you haven’t read Gavin’s blog… do it. Maybe Vendetta will have to start producing movies here soon?

I can see where you’re coming from. Talladega Nights definitely follow that same formula we’ve seen a lot from Ferrell, and I agree it doesn’t hit quite as hard as some of his other stuff. Still, I got a few laughs, especially in that scene where Ricky’s getting talked into thinking he’s paralyzed, only to stab himself in the leg. That bit always cracks me up.
One thing I will say is that the ridiculous product placement actually worked on me. After seeing the Wonder Bread logo plastered all over Ricky’s car and jacket, I ended up buying a replica Wonder Bread jacket from Safyd just for fun. Didn’t expect it, but it’s a great conversation starter at BBQs and parties—people love the reference!
