Super Bowl 55 has come upon us. After a tumultuous and uncertain year, one thing can be said. The more things change the more they stay the same. The Chiefs are still world-beaters and we were all wrong about Tom Brady. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at why the Chiefs are going to go back-to-back.

The Chiefs are attempting to become the first repeat champions since the 03-04 New England Patriots. Ironically, The Cheifs will have to beat the quarterback of that team in order for that to happen. We’ve seen the Chiefs look vulnerable all season. They haven’t covered a game since November up until the AFC Championship. Kansas City constantly let teams hang around as they coasted to wins week after week. However, the way they beat the Buffalo Bills should open up some eyes. The Chiefs can turn it on whenever they damn well want. They were holding back the entire time. Do you really think the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes are going to let Brady beat them again? I doubt that.
Without question, Mahomes is the most talented QB in the NFL. Mahomes may not be the smartest or know how to read defenses the best, but it truly doesn’t matter. His ability to improvise throws and his delivery based on how open his receiver is can be magical at times. Do not bet against Mahomes or this Chiefs offense. The moment is not too big for him or anyone on this Chiefs offense. They made being down 9-0 in the AFC Championship look like nothing. Truly, what other teams can answer back with 21 unanswered points? No one in the NFL can do that. That speaks to not only the ability of Mahomes but the leadership he commands on that team.
Look, now that Andy Reid has finally gotten that elusive Super Bowl ring. It seems as though he has become a better coach. As of right now, there is no pressure on him at all. Reid has that ring and coach freely now. The old Reid would’ve panicked down 9-0 in the AFC Championship and made some bad calls ultimately putting the Chiefs in a really bad spot.
However, now with championship pedigree Reid was cool as a cucumber and rallied his team to a win. The Chiefs have the coaching edge in this tilt and with already a win against the Buccaneers on their side they have the advantage. Reid will unleash his full-arsenal on the Bucs early and often. Just like the first time they met when Tyreek Hill torched the Bucs in the first quarter. I expect another big time game from Hill and that will be because Reid and Eric Bienimy set it up that way.
It’s no secret that Brady is a statue in the pocket and that he hates an aggressive defensive line. Chris Jones was a monster in the AFC Championship and was very disruptive to what the Bills wanted to in that game. Jones could be the difference-maker if he forces Brady to rush his throws and reads. The three teams that have beaten Brady in the Super Bowl all had a good defensive line and made him very uncomfortable. If Chris Jones is firing on all cylinders and that Chiefs defense steps up yet again it will be a long day for the Bucs offense. In the first matchup between the Chiefs and Bucs this year the Chiefs defensive line only mustered one sack and still held the Bucs at bay. This time around I expect a ton of pressure on Brady.
Prediction Chiefs Repeat 30-27
The Chiefs offense will make the big plays when they matter and the Chiefs defense will force timely turnovers. The game will be close but in the end, Mahomes and the Chiefs walk away as champions.
