Sports Media
Sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Usually, New England assistants aren’t permitted to speak to the media but for whatever reason, reporters were talking to Steve Belichick. Steve, of course, is the son of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. This is must see TV. Genetics are amazing.
This is just so beautiful. It has everything you thought Steve would be. The mumbling, never raises his voice, and everything sounds depressing. It’s too perfect. It’s only a matter of time before he’s throwing shots without ever breaking stride. The story of Steve watching film to spend more time with his dad is too good. When the reporters ask him who is calling plays, Steve refuses to answer. Bill would have handled it a bit better, but Steve will learn. It’s his first time or at least the first I’m seeing him speak.
Here’s my question. If you’re another team, aren’t you obligated to interview him? Just based on that interview alone, if he’s 80 percent of Bill, you have to hire him. Have to. You can just tell there’s a hidden genius inside there. Who knows how long Bill will coach for. You gotta try to pluck Steve and make him a head coach. Have to. Name a better candidate than the son of the evil genius head coach.
The reports are that Steve is calling the shots for the Patriots defense this year. They rank first in pretty much every category defensively. I’m really curious to see how this progresses. Is Steve the next Patriots head coach? Where does that leave Josh McDaniels? All I know is that I wouldn’t mind seeing Steve at the mic more. One Belichick just isn’t enough.
