Sox Prospects Deserves More Recognition

I’m not always negative, okay? Respect is given when respect is earned. I think I can confidently say there is not another prospect database on the planet that does a better job of covering a farm system in any sport than Sox Prospects does. They need way more recognition because the work they do is priceless.

If you are unfamiliar with Sox Prospects, you can check out their site here. Their entire site is based on the prospects in the Red Sox farm system. As a notable fan of the Red Sox, you best believe I check out their site pretty frequently.

Sox Prospects has everything you need to know about the Red Sox farm system. Rankings, international signings, full scouting reports, Rule 5 eligibility, podcasts, articles, etc. For a site that isn’t affiliated with the team at all, the work they are able to put together is phenomenal.

Best of all, these guys are usually ahead of the curve. Real Red Sox fans know the guys coming through the system way better than the normal prospect rankings. Sox Prospects has a lot to do with that. A more recent example is Jarren Duran and his inability to have a clue on the defensive end of things. They had those concerns documented well before the public caught on.

These guys aren’t just putting together reports. They’re damn good at what they do too. Point being, their rankings are way more up-to-date than the ones you will find on normal prospect rankings you find on MLB Pipeline or wherever else you get your prospect news.

The current state of the Red Sox farm system is rapidly improving under Chaim Bloom. Guys like Marcelo Mayer, Triston Casas, Brayan Bello, etc. will be fun to track over the coming years. Bloom is quietly building a deep farm team and prioritizes it more than any Red Sox general manager in recent memory. Now is the best time to start following the work the Sox Prospects team puts together.

I can’t imagine there is another site out there dedicated to one team’s farm system that does a better job than these guys. It makes being a Red Sox fan that much better. They make you feel more connected to the young players coming up through the system. It doesn’t get better than that. Credit to Mike Andrews, Chris Hatfield, Ian Cundall, and the rest of that team. They do fantastic work and deserve way more recognition for doing so.
