Something Might Be Wrong With Antonio Brown

When the news first broke that the Raiders traded a 3rd and 5th round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for arguably the best WR in football, it came off as a complete steal. Antonio Brown was brought in to help elevate Derek Carr back to his MVP form from 2016, (yes, if he had not got injured he would have won it). Compound that with what most would consider to be a home run in the 2019 NFL Draft, there was reason for optimism in Oakland. I feel so bad for Raiders fans. I too saw all the potential this team had going into this season. But the actions and behavior from Antonio Brown have marred their offseason and put a grey cloud over the start of the season. But this writer is worried for his health, and it is not looking good.

Lashing out at the General Manager, throwing tantrums on the sidelines, getting into confrontations during camp. These are just some of the antics Antonio Brown is being remembered for. But I think he has a mental health issue: CTE. I know that is a bold statement to make. For reference, CTE develops over time after repeated brutal blows to the head, to summarize it. Symptoms include aggression, impulsive control decisions, and impaired judgement. I think the tipping point was a wild card game against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016.

Since then, Antonio Brown has acted like an even bigger child than he normally has. But I’m worried that that hit from Vontaze Burfict really messed him up. This all culminated yesterday when reports came out that he was due to be suspended over a confrontation with General Manager Mike Mayock, where he had to be held back by teammates. Something here reeks of mental problems.

Now, we all know that a man like Antonio Brown is far too proud to go get himself checked. But at the rate his social status is deteriorating, (what I mean is that in the eyes of the public he’s a lunatic. He loves his image on social media so if the public hates him, he won’t react well). I hope someone gets to him sooner rather than later and talks some sense into him. As far as his status as a Raider goes…Mike Mayock? Sit this man week one. Suspend him, get your money back and cut your ties. But that is another story for another time.
