What Does it Mean For SimBull CFB Investors if The SEC Gets Bigger

Like it or not, change is scary, and especially when money is involved. In the same way, you can buy SimShares of NFL and MLB teams on SimBull, you can now invest in College Football teams on the same marketplace. According to the Houston Chronicle, Texas and Oklahoma just asked the SEC about joining their conference and leaving the Big 12, so what does that mean for CFB investors on SimBull?

Currently, you can buy a SimShare of the Texas football team for $43.01, the twenty-first most expensive team in the CFB market. The Oklahoma shares, on the other hand, are the fourth most expensive team in their market at $63.59 a share.

Better Schedule = Less Wins

It really can be as simple as that. Instead of being in the same conference as noted football powerhouse Kansas, the Sooners and Longhorns will have to play Alabama and Florida in their regular seasons. Texas football has struggled to reach the promised land since the days of Vince Young, and moving to the SEC could help with that. But ultimately, there will be growing pains, and taking a beating in the toughest conference in NCAA football can take a toll.

I think you are better off buying a team like Maryland, like Karl said in his best buys post. There is plenty of value in the CFB marketplace to get before I overpay for Oklahoma to get their teeth kicked in against an SEC schedule.

Disclaimer: I want to clearly communicate that this is all my opinion and my individual assessment of value. I am not a financial advisor. Be smart with how you invest your money.
