On The Field

Oh, Vanderbilt. The future is not looking good for you. Last season was about as worse as it can get for any college program. What hurt Vandy’s chance of getting a win was playing all nine games within the SEC. Long gone are the days of James Franklin and playing competitive football. The Commodores parted ways with head coach Derek Mason after starting 0-8 last season and went out to grab former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea.

The Clark Lea saga did not get off to a great start. Vandy lost to Eastern Tennessee State, a program that shut down in 2003 and did not restart the program until 2015. Week two was better, edging a win over Colorado State 24-21 to snap their 11 game losing streak. Not one player on either the offense or defensive side of the ball has stuck out. It’s hard to find positives this season for Vandy.

In The Market

The SimVanderbilt Commodores currently sit at $22.41, making Vandy the fourth-lowest priced team in the market. This also makes them the lowest priced SEC team, and for good reason. We try to find positives in these breakdowns, but I feel like I would be doing a disservice to you the reader if I said this was a good buy. Yes, the price is extremely low. Perhaps one day Vandy can get back to where they were a decade ago. But that is a MASSIVE if.

The only value I see in Vandy is if you want to get your feet wet in the market and don’t want to spend a lot of money. Even then, I could think of a lot of other teams in SimBull CFB, or other leagues, that would be better investments than Vanderbilt. Unless you are a Vandy fan, I’d stay away for now and the foreseeable future.
