SimBull 2021 CFB Full Team Breakdown: Kansas State Wildcats

Welcome to Vendetta’s SimBull CFB full team breakdowns, where the writers from Vendetta Sports Media will be analyzing all the Power 5 college football programs for their share value on SimBull. This edition looks at the Kansas State Wildcats.

2020 Record: 4-6 (4-5 Big 12)

2021 Projected Win Total (via William Hill Sportsbook): O/U 5.5 Wins

On the Field

The Wildcats got off to a hot start in 2020, going 4-1 in their first five games. Then Skylar Thompson, their starting quarterback, went down with an injury and K-State ended the year on a five-game losing streak. He returned fully healthy to open this season, so it was probably a fair conclusion that the Wildcats would be better than the end of last season indicated.

So far that appears to be the case, despite some setbacks. KSU has opened the year 3-0 and are ranked No. 25 in the country. Unfortunately, Thompson was injured again in the second game of the year, and he will be out for an indefinite period of time. The Wildcats turned to sophomore quarterback Will Howard and began relying much more on starting running back Deuce Vaughn. We will really see what this team is made of when they open October with No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 14 Iowa State.

In the Market

One share of SimKSU-FB goes for $33.15. In terms of cost, this share price is eighth of the 10 Big 12 teams and 49th of the 65 Power Five schools. Keep in mind, Kansas State is the No. 25 team in the country right now. They have some tough games remaining on their conference schedule, but they also face Kansas and Baylor, the two Big 12 teams below them in share price.

So far the KSU defense has held up and the run game has been very solid. With their toughest opponents ahead of them, this will need to continue while adding more out of the passing game as well. At least for now, the Wildcats look much better than their share price indicates.
