Should The Lakers Trade Anthony Davis?
LeBron lost in the playoffs so we got the typical reaction today.
“LeBron doesn’t have any help! Let me make sure I cry about it!”
That quote can be found from the thousand of LeBron fans that exist. Can LeBron squeeze one more title before he calls it quits? A lot of important decisions will be made this offseason. Most notable; would it be such a crazy idea to trade Anthony Davis?
Colin Cowherd brought it up today.
It’s a double edged sword, right? The durability makes the idea of trading Davis plausible. Then again, his durability also reduces his trade value. Does anybody have a clue what Davis’ hypothetical trade value would be? Davis is still in the midst of his prime. Whoever the Lakers acquire in the trade won’t be as good as Davis. At this point, maybe hoping and praying the big man is healthy is the best strategy.
If the Lakers were to consider moving Davis, you could rationalize it. Davis is not dependable. He’s either hurt or even when he’s healthy, there are times he turns into an aggressiveness jump shooter. In reality, the Lakers didn’t give up the farm for Davis. Who do they really miss from that trade? Brandon Ingram? The same guy LeBron didn’t want to play with and has since flourished in New Orleans.
The reality of the situation is, this is the player empowerment movement. Players essentially have the freedom to come and go as they please. If you don’t have enough help, that is on you. Pick a new location.
Kevin Durant has signed up for Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden.
LeBron James has signed up for Timofey Mozgov, Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, and other brittle stars. Guess what. It has cost him titles. Too bad, so sad, find a new slant.
Laker fans can explore the idea of trading Davis to build another championship team. The reality of the situation is the LeBron championship window is probably over. Then again, we shouldn’t be surprised. Leaving the court early, showing up to the arena drunk on wine, and focusing on Space Jam over the Olympics is who LeBron is. Why anybody is surprised hasn’t been paying attention. This is who LeBron is. It’s always your fault, not his. Go head, trade Anthony Davis. Just remember this is who you signed for.
