Shedeur Sanders Launches ‘#2 BBQ Sauce’ in New NIL Deal

Jackson State quarterback and son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, has inked a new NIL deal. Sanders has partnered with PLB Sports and Entertainment to launch a barbeque sauce called #2 BBQ.

Sanders appeared in a commercial for the sauce to make it offical.

Quote via 247Sports:

“No. 2 BBQ sauce … it’s smooth, then it gets a little spicy,” Sanders said in his advertisement for the sauce. “I feel like that’s how I play. I’m smooth, but then, when we score in the end zone, it’s always a party. To have my own barbecue sauce is extremely important.”

A portion of the profits made from this NIL deal will go to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, a non-profit organization that supports various HBCUs.

PLB Sports and Entertainment has been active in partnering with athletes to create food products. The company currently has partnerships with Trevon Diggs, Alvin Kamara, Nick Chubb and others. Sanders is the first college athlete to partner with the company.

In the commercial, Sanders announced that #2 BBQ Sauce will be sold on PLB Sport and Entertainment’s website. It is also anticipated that the sauce will be sold at Kroger and the JSU Bookstore.

This deal marks Sanders’ fourth NIL deal. Most notable was his NIL deal with Gatorade, but he also has deals with Beats By Dre and Brady Brand.

Sanders has started the 2022 season on fire. He has led Jackson State to a 4-0 record while throwing for 1,381 yards and 14 touchdowns on a 75 percent completion percentage.

Sanders is far from being the only college quarterback to strike gold in the NIL market. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has partnered with Dr Pepper and Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall partnered with Darlington Raceway.
