Shedeur Sanders Doesn’t Like Being Second to Caleb Williams

Shedeur Sanders doesn’t like the idea of being second to reigning Heisman winner Caleb Williams. Shedeur wants to be the best no matter what according to his coach and dad, Deion Sanders. Deion recently stated that both Sheduer and Shilo won’t be entering the 2024 NFL Draft. On Wednesday, he dove deeper into the reasoning behind that.

It’s not about what I’m seeing from them, it’s about a whole lot of other things: team, position, round projection. All of that, plays a role,” Sanders said. “Now, with NIL, and who they are, shoot, you could make just as much money here as you can there [the NFL] unless you’re one of the first five picks.

But Shedeur don’t want to be two to nobody. He don’t get down like that. People are projecting him behind Caleb Williams. And Caleb Williams is phenomenal. But Shedeur ain’t no backseat rider. He drives his Maybach. He doesn’t have a driver in it — he drives it.”

Regardless of how well Sanders plays this year, it would be hard to convince teams to not draft Caleb Williams No. 1 overall.

Deion brings up some very valid points about keeping his sons around for one more season. They have had the college football world in a chokehold and Shedeur could very well make close to eight figures next season.

It is unreal to think that a college player could make more than a lot of NFL players (on rookie contracts), but this is a new reality.

The Sanders family could not be playing the NIL game any better right now and seem to just be rolling in cash. It would be hard to turn down millions of dollars and be the highlight of college football for another season.

Giving Shedeur another year to get better and showcase his skills could guarantee him to be a top-five pick. Although fans want to see him play in the NFL, staying for one more year is probably the best business decision the family could make.
