Shannon Sharpe made a statement this morning. The Undisputed co-host did not arrive to work Tuesday in a boycott of Skip Bayless’ insensitive reaction to Damar Hamlin’s collapse on the field Monday night in a game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.
After his tweet, Bayless has been through the spin cycle of many athletes and personalities. However, Sharpe showed solidarity with those athletes and many more by skipping out on Bayless.
Fox is trying their best to hold it together, as seen below:
In my opinion, this should be the tip of the iceberg. Why shouldn’t Bayless get fired for this, or a suspension at the very least? Focusing on anything besides the health and condition of Hamlin is truly a form of media malpractice. I can’t even understand how someone’s mind can go to fixing the NFL schedule after seeing Bills players in tears and forming prayer circles.
It was confirmed that Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field. I am by absolutely no means a medical expert, but he could have been considered legally dead.
And then we have Bayless, the patron saint of stupidity. I suppose three things really are true in life: death, taxes, and Skip Bayless being the dumbest guy in the room. Some were hoping Sharpe would show up to educate him, but that is not the case. Instead, Bayless will have to sleep in the bed he made following this idiotic and careless tweet:
Undisputed would be better off finding a new host to go with Sharpe. We’ve seen Bayless be very wrong about many things, notably the Dallas Cowboys, LeBron James, Von Miller, Johnny Manziel and the list goes on and on. This incident takes the cake, though.
Bayless is lucky that there hasn’t been a life-or-death scenario like this any sooner. His heart is obviously not in the right place.
If there is any silver lining, Bayless’ heartless tweet has given the world something to unite on: praying for Damar Hamlin and hating Bayless. Salute to Shannon Sharpe for putting him in his place after such a ridiculous statement.
